Thanks for the hints gentlemen unfortunately I had already found the info on the GE web site and had used a 386SX PC running DOS 3.3 for my tests.Ĭonnecting to the PLC is the first step in an anticipated replacement of the controller (generally it helps to have a copy of the existing program as a guide).Ĥ. And don't ask, I gave it away to Michigan Industrial Controls ( ).ģ. I didn't even know that the "other" 5 even existed until I picked one up (along with a Series One and all sorts of other junk) for $40. So try an old PC with an old version of DOS. They mention the 5 in their experience list.Īnd a (tiny) bit of help from the GE site:Īccording to the FAQ, "Logicmaster 5 2.02* 2.02 Use in disk drive partition 32MB or less"
It has all the manuals for the Series One, Series Three, and Series Five.Ģ. If you contact your local distributor, ask for a copy of the 'Legacy Products' CD. Series Five manuals are not available on GE's website. You can't buy replacement parts for it anymore. I'd also suggest that if this machine is critical to your plant's operation that you consider replacing the Series Five.
The software and programming are very similar to the Series Six, so if can find somebody with Series Six experience, that person should be able to help you with the Series Five. I'd suggest a 386 vintage machine and DOS 5.0 or thereabouts. You may need an older DOS computer to have any chance of success. The correct procedure was to boot from the original disk 1 and then use the "Duplicate Master" procedure to make a runnable version.
The disks that you're using may have been copied from the original master disks. Is there any 3rd party software that can connect to the series 5 plc?ġ. The software starts the boot process (from a floppy) but stalls at a certain point with a reverse video BUSY at the top center of the screen.ĭoes anyone have any knowledge of this product and what I may be doing wrong? I have a copy of Logicmaster 5 software with the aim of connecting to a (very) old GE Series 5 PLC. Home Conferences Questions/Answers-Early 2001 (Public) New Here? Please read this important info!!!
